Ice fishing or pilkki (as it’s called in Finnish) is one of the most popular hobbies from the locals. On a beautiful, frozen lake you try to catch as much fish as possible. You’ll walk a short distance to the lake. Your guide will explain how to drill a hole and how the fishing rods work. You may catch perch, whitefish, roach, pike or even grayling. If you caught fish, your guide will show you how to prepare the fish by an open fire. During the break you can also enjoy coffee, tea and a snack.

Cancellations
  • A €50 administrative fee applies to all customer cancellations.
  • Weekly programs: cancellations made at least 21 days before the program are refunded, less the administrative fee.
  • Cancellations made 20 days or less before the program are non-refundable.
  • Groups of 8–16 people: cancellations made 30 days or less before the program are non-refundable.
  • Groups of 17 or more: cancellations made 59 days or less before the program are non-refundable.
  • Ruka Safaris may cancel a weekly departure if the minimum of four participants is not reached. In this case, all payments will be refunded within 14 days.
